Zagg invisible shield for iPod Touch Review- Is it worth buying?

Zagg, a company that manufactures protective coverings for most consumer electronics. Most of their products are well made but cost a lot to most people. Most people find something interesting on their site, but then find the same product on site like amazon or eBay with just a different or no brand that are cheaper. Well most people never had a chance to try their products to really know if the cheap product is the same quality.
Well, to those who do not know, I will briefly tell you about one of their products and compare them to a no branded product that acts in the same purpose.

The Zagg invisibleSHIELD for the Apple iPod Touch, which starts at $14.99 for just the screen and $24.99 for the screen and the back. This product is an invisible shield that does not look different from any other screen protectors in the market, but it definitely feels and works different. This screen protector is made out of a military grade patented material. If you actually touch it and play around with it, you can basically call it a very strong rubbery material. When I mean rubbery, I actually mean rubbery material such as the rubber on a rubber duck or even a chew toy for a dog.
One thing I found something really cool about this screen protector, it heals most damage from pressure (dents, not scratches). Maybe you don't get what I mean. Imagine just used a pen on foam, you see the dent you made, but eventually it will return back to its normal state, unless you actually damaged it. Since this is a thick rubbery layer, when you press or use a pen cap on any part of this screen protector, the dent will be visible on the screen protector, but eventually (usually within seconds) it will return to its flat surface. The dent will only stay if you go overboard and damage it badly.
Getting scratches on these is pretty hard to do with keys or your nails. Your nails will just smoothly glide on the screen protectors. But if you really want to know, within a day after this posting, I will show you a personally made scratch test. Another thing I realized is that getting a smudge on these screen protectors are rare.
I have a Zagg invisibleSHIELD for my iPod Touch 3g for about 7 months, and I could still keep using the screen protector. There is about 3 small dents on my screen protector, but I remember making two of them on purpose just to check out the material. I have been constantly making note of the product every month. I have never had a smudge on this, not even one scratch, and barely any damage. The only damage that these had accidentally is a dent that was produced by me dropping my iPod Touch on the ground and it bumped into something. These screen protectors absorb some impact. The following are some pros and cons:

Pros
  • Rubbery material
  • Self-healing
  • Reduces fingerprint smudges and smears
  •  Absorbs impact (Don't think it you can drop it without breaking)
  •  Lifetime warranty
Cons
  • Hard to apply, usually takes time
  • Pricey to certain people

You were waiting to hear the downsides of this product. The downside is when you are applying this. Most people never read the instructions to something simple as this, but it's really not that simple. If you do not read the directions (like me), you will end up messing up the screen protector. Applying this firmly takes a maximum of an hour and a minimum of 5-10 minutes. This product is very stick, almost like super glue. In the instructions it tells the user to first wet it with either the solution they give you or just room temperature water. It sounds crazy but its true. While keeping it wet, you fit it onto the iPod Touch or any other product it was made for. When you fit it in while its wet, use the installation card and press out all the water/solution. It will not only remove the water, but the adhesive will start to stick. Once you apply it and it becomes dry, it cannot be reused. If you apply it wrong, removing it will be difficult and you can cause it to stretch and leave a mark. This has happened to me, so I would know. Also when applying, do not have dust or any cloth near it, because if it sticks onto that, it will probably attract the material and it will stay on the screen protector (like me).
So is it worth buying? Yes it is. It is worth every penny you spend. Comparing it to a $2 dollar screen protector from amazon or eBay, it is way better. The cheap ones you buy are usually made from plastic, which can get scratched easily and creates smudges. The InvisibleSHIELD is worth it in the long run because of the lifetime warranty. You can basically get a new one if it gets scratches as long as you you the same compatible device.
Remember, this is available to many electronics, including phones, cameras, and tablets/computers. Check out the website and look under InvisibleSHIELDs and find your device. Click on Zagg to go to their websites to check out the InvisibleSHEILDs and more.
